// OUR APPROACH

Abundant light is Africa’s best free resource — and we’re built to use it.

Conventional growers screen out significant amounts of sunlight. Drylands Farms are designed to maximise it — converting Africa’s exceptional solar irradiance directly into higher yield and better quality.

LIGHT + ENERGY

Everything we grow is stored sunlight.

We site farms where the energy is already in the sky, then engineer water, climate control and logistics around that surplus — instead of buying photons back off the grid.

// READING THE CHART

Light is the one input you cannot buy.

Westland is the most productive greenhouse cluster on earth — and it runs on borrowed light. From November to February its growers pay for photons with gas, glass and grid.

Our sites open the year above Westland's summer peak and never drop below it. That surplus is what makes low-input, twelve-month production physically possible.

Every variable measured. Every intervention deliberate.

We monitor continuously
Temperature, humidity, water saturation, stem thickness and plant weight tracked in real time — a complete picture of plant health at any moment.
We intervene precisely
A 0.3°C adjustment, a controlled restriction of water, a change in light spectrum — small, data-driven moves that compound into better yield and quality.
We learn and improve
Every intervention and outcome is recorded, building a proprietary dataset that makes each crop more predictable and each facility more efficient.
We retain expertise
Agritechs work structured daily routines, developing deep plant knowledge that is systematised and transferred — never locked in one individual.
The result: best-in-class yields — 20–30× the output of a conventional African smallholding growing the same crop.
